Lauren Mox Artistry
Artist statement
My work is rooted in a deep love for the natural world and the unseen energy that flows through it. Each piece I create is a quiet meditation on beauty, impermanence, and wonder. I take my time and listen to the voice of each piece, modifying it till it says done. Galaxies and nebulas swirl in my work—not only to evoke the vastness of the universe, but to hint at how connected we are to something larger. I use acrylic for my cosmic skies, for it dries a matte finish, making it look old and distant. While I use oil to create my landscapes, building up texture with pallet knives and having that shiny finish, to make it look new and young. I do this to show that planets, maybe earth maybe not, are so young compared to the cosmos. To remind us that we are star dust floating on a rock in a vast void of more star dust. I get that it sounds harsh but it's to remind you to not stress over the small things. All you can do is control how you react and how it affects you, you can't change others thoughts.

My intention is to create art that feels like a memory and a possibility at the same time. Moments that feel familiar and infinite, as you wonder if you are looking at earth or a distant planet. For you the viewer to look upon a piece and to just be pulled in. To give yourself a moment to reflect and find some peace from this crazy world. To bring you closer to nature, make you want to go out and stare up into the night sky. To make you wonder – What else is out there? Are we alone? To make you question – how much do we lose when we look up at night and can’t see the stars? How much wonder and contemplation is lost by bright fluorescent lights?

Based in California, I share my studio with two cats who make sure I take regular breaks to stretch and appreciate the present. Whether you're a collector, a fellow dreamer, or simply someone passing by—I’m so glad you're here.
